In 1685 he asks to be allowed to manufacture French piquet cards and "Beuteltüchel" (Cloth made of a strong
special fabric for sifting flour) for one year. He tells that he had a piquet card factory in Breslau, where he
competed with manufacturers of German cards and was therefore persecuted for his religion and the papermakers were
forbidden to supply him with paper; he therefore returns to Prague and promises that there will be no harm to the
local manufacturers of German cards - who do not yet have a guild.
