I could find no entries for Josef Bettelheim in the church records and archives of Graz;
therefore, his biography is currently unknown.
However, there is a Franz Puchleitner who was born in Graz in 1826, worked as
a bookbinder in Knittelfeld from around 1860, moved to Judenburg in 1871 and opened a
book and art shop there. It is currently impossible to determine whether this is the
same person as the playing card manufacturer or whether there is simply a coincidence
of names.
