Remark:
Franz Xaver Milchram originally worked as a paper dyer (i.e., he produced colored sheets of paper) and a "Kattundrucker" (i.e., he printed various patterns on the colored paper using wooden blocks). These papers were used as decorative paper and also as wallpaper. Only later (around 1813) did he expand his product range to include playing cards. However, the colored papers always remained part of his inventory.
